For this university client, the primary objective was to redefine the staff canteen, transforming a large, open-plan dining hall into a series of intimate, inviting zones. The design sought to balance social interaction with the need for acoustic comfort and visual privacy in a high-traffic area.
Central to the scheme was the installation of the Ws.D Decora zoning system. Radius Office supplied and installed these modular double acoustic panels to create natural partitions between dining tables. Acting as both a functional barrier and a design feature, the Decora units effectively dampen noise, reducing the reverberation often associated with busy communal spaces.
Beyond acoustics, the system introduced a strong biophilic element. Integrated planters within the panels brought lush greenery into the heart of the room, softening the architectural lines and promoting well-being. The combination of textured fabrics and natural foliage established a calm, restorative atmosphere.
The installation was coordinated efficiently to ensure minimal disruption to the client's daily operations. The final result is a cohesive, practical environment that elevates the employee experience, offering a structured yet open space for relaxation and connection.
